Views of the bar area, with a completely re-built bar, but still the same old customers, I'm afraid. the builders had to work around Tom to do the walls. All freshly plastered, and the walls got done as well.

A couple of testimonials from some very satisfied customers.

Many thanks to both Chris and Simon for taking the time to tell us about their experience.

You must have caught us on a good day, before the chef got stuck into the cooking sherry.

The 'Heifer' is noted for it's choice of good ales, along with the area standard of Tetleys Bitter, there are other fine cask-conditioned beers on sale, such as "Black Sheep", Timothy Taylors 'Landlord' and other guest beers to tempt the palates of even the bearded and sandalled "real-ale anoraks". A choice of other beers are also available, lagers, and of course, the Guinness. A wide selection of wines, suitable to an establishment serving good food, from all the major and popular wine growing areas of the world, means that most people can find a bottle of something to suit their taste.

....................

Food is a speciality of the 'Heifer', Sam has spent most of his life an the catering industry, and has made it his mission to avoid the usual 'boil in the bag' prepared meals offered by many other estabishments. The new menu offers some dishes typical of the Brasserie style, all prepared on the premises from the best fresh ingredients. The is also a bar menu with traditional bar meals, and sandwiches, but also with the specials chalk-boards, featuring freshly aquired seasonal dishes. Many meats are locally reared and bred, like the Lamb Henry's and Barnsley Chops, but fresh fish is also easily available and deliverd from both the east and west coasts and feature on the board. Puddings are a speciality of the Heifer, and change according to the season, so there's another chalk-board devoted to these delights, they vary from "light-as-feather" sweets to wonderful old-fashioned puds, that'll stick to your ribs and insulate you from the winter chills for at least a couple of weeks...

The bar and dining areas have just gone through a major re-furbishment during March 2006, giving a more modern atmosphere of a bar/brasserie style but still retaining the Heifer's country pub image. The dark stone walls, woodwork and carpeting have been replaced by light coloured plastered walls, lots of lighting and four differing floor textures, of tiles, wood and a carpet in the 'snug' area.

Views of the dining area, this is the part that has probably seen the most significant changes. Gone is the glazed centre screen and fixed seating, replaced by individual tables comfortable high-backed chairs, along with a wooden floor

From Mr C. Hudson  of Dore,   Sheffield

Last Saturday I had lunch with friends at your new Brassiere.  The new decor is chic, bright yet warm creating a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. However, I am writing in praise of my meal - Sea Bass served on a bed of crab & prawn risotto, with an optional bowl of fresh salad. I ordered it from the specials board with a little trepidation as I recently had Sea Bass at an "upmarket" Sheffield restaurant at nearly twice the price, and had been very disappointed. The "Craven Heifer" Sea bass was presented on an attractive square plate with two generous pieces of fish, cooked to perfection, on a delicious bed of risotto with a lovely creamy texture that perfectly complimented the "melt in your mouth" pieces of Sea bass....no additional condiments or sauces  necessary.  This was unquestionably the most enjoyable Sea bass I have ever eaten, and the greatest compliment is that I was still thinking about it over 24 hours later. My guests were equally complimentary about their traditional "Roast" lunches of lamb and beef respectively,  particularly praising the vegetables.  There was a comprehensive choice of desserts from which we chose 3,  enjoyed with an equally impressive selection of coffees.    All in all it was a most enjoyable lunch, well worth the money paid and the journey to and from Sheffield.......a new culinary jewel on the edge of the Yorkshire dales.

Please feel free to add this to a "Testimonials" page on your website

Congratulations

Just a quick note to compliment you all.
I  visited last weekend and we all found really excellent food,  elegant decor, nice and friendly staff and now I've found you've
got  a really comprehensive website too. You're bound to be flooded out by
business. The only downside is that word will quickly get around, and  it'll be harder and harder to get a table.

Congratulations on the new business.

Best wishes

Simon
